Las Vegas electronic music pioneers. The Crystal Method waited four years after their landmark debut Vegas to release their equally groundbreaking Tweekend. “A lot of the songs took a while because we just kept re-tweaking the mixes and songs,” co-founder Ken Jordan told Rolling Stone upon its release in 2001.

Anchored by the muscular breakout hit “Name of the Game” (featuring Tom Morello on guitar), the album helped propel electronic music forward in the U.S. with help from everyone from Scott Weiland (on the pop-leaning “Murder”) to Jon Brion (who co-produced the woozy “Over the Line”). “The beats are big, full, and just as toe-tapping as ever,” Popmatters wrote in their review at the time. “There’s still a rockist sense of bombast and glamour.”
This fusion of arena-ready big beat and breakbeat and pulsating rock made the duo leaders of a new wave of dance music. “We never wanted to be pigeonholed and told we were one genre,” co-founder Scott Kirkland told Rolling Stone in 2022. “We love being different things.” Look no further than this one.
